I believe that if you start on impossible is pretty difficult map. You can increase the difficulty further by entering the map editor and modifying the 8 pandora's boxes to add more resources and gold for the AI.
I pondered a lot if I should remove Dimension Door and Town Portal, but I wanted to have all capabilities of the game available, that's why in the end I decided the game is more fun with them present.
